Coffee With Corinne Corinne Guido-Powell

[Intro] Hello and welcome to my podcast Empowered to Thrive. I'm your host, Corinne Powell. I'm an intuitive guide and I love helping people to heal from within so that they can create a life that they love, a life that they enjoy. We weren't meant to just tolerate and get through life, We were meant to thrive and enjoy the life we're living. Of course, we will have seasons and moments that are challenging, and the beauty of it is that we can be supported in those moments.

I am here to be an aide and a guide to support you, and I hope that you will enjoy not only today's episode, but some of the past episodes if you haven't heard them yet on this podcast we talk about all things inner wellness. We also sprinkle in some spirituality and parenting, because as a mom to three kids, parenting is a big part of my life.

I hope that you enjoy the episode and that there's at least one thing you'll pull from it and start to implement into your own life. If you want to follow me in other ways, you can find me on Instagram @corinne_changeradically or on Facebook, Change Radically.

Would you do me a favor and share this podcast with your friends if you hear an episode that resonates with you? And would you also go ahead and give me a rating and review my podcast? It would mean so much to me and I would appreciate it.]

Episode 12: I am so glad to have you here with me, and if you are a regular listener you'll probably have noticed it's been a few weeks since you've heard from me and so I just wanted to touch base to share with you what's coming ahead and just not to leave you hanging and wondering what's going on with the podcast.

I'm still here. I'm continuing with empowered to thrive, but it's been as you know a busy season with my baby being young and now with summer and my older three kids being home from school. Just to be transparent I'm very stretched In addition to that, I've had a lot of changes going on in the back end with assistance, and some starting and stopping and rehiring and you know that's a part of business and I'm just bringing it to the light so that you know because I have to say it, but just because why not.

And I wanted to leave you with something today though and give you a little bit of a heads-up on what's coming in the future.

So for today, for right now, I wanted to talk about how we can be sure to still prioritize our needs even in the middle of busy seasons. Because like I just said, it's a busy season for me. It is been challenging for me to not fall back into my condition patterns, those patterns that I got used to growing up. And as you may know, I was the codependent people pleaser, always meeting the needs of other people at my own expense.

Not prioritizing my needs, actually running myself ragged to the point of burnout to the point of needing to repair my body in many ways, and having to come to a hard stop at that point in my life four or five years ago. It's probably been longer than that now. Time moves. Maybe 5-6 years ago now, but, the point of all this is that I still notice -Ohh! I have another layer of healing that needs to happen not I don't say it needs to happen in the sense of like it's a bad thing, or it must I might have to work at this more or less just I can expect there are more layers of healing coming to me because I'm realizing that I'm still falling back into my condition pattern.

And, what that's looked like is just me not making time for the things that I enjoy that are important to me and that is my work. I love my work. I love meeting with you here on the podcast. I love meeting with my clients. I enjoy a lot of the elements of my job. I also feel the weight of needing to show up for my family and my kids and what ties into this is the idea that I'm making it possible for my husband to work all the hours he needs to work and act like my work is less valuable, less important, and a lot of times that comes down to the fact that he makes a lot more money in a day's work because for me at this present moment, my income comes in when I meet with a client for a session. And I do a lot of other work behind the scenes that I'm not getting paid for necessarily.

Today is just the day to be super transparent and just talk to you like we are friends, but bear with me here, all of this is me working out of the condition pattern. Me healing myself more by finding the challenge this summer of needing to make time for myself and then choosing to say, you know what? What am I going to do about this? Am I going to vocalize to Evan I need some more time for me and because he's a great guy, he's going to help that happen, and I'm going to also be working intentionally to create space to do the things that I enjoy.

For example, walking. It's a lot harder for me to take walks in the summer, I've noticed, than it is when my kids are in school I can just carve out 30 minutes or more in a day when they're in school. A lot easier than me having to say where are we going to plan for the day's activities and then in addition to that we're going to all go on this walk. It's just more complicated. It's possible, of course, but it's a lot harder. And, so I've determined, you know I have a babysitter coming in and giving me time to work. I have planned days where Evans is home with the kids and I'm working. But the pockets of other time are so much less right now that I'm having to figure out how do I take care of myself. And I could sit here and tell you I haven't done a very good job of it, but I think I'm not going to go from that angle I think that's a critical, judgmental critique, that angle, not those words. And, how I'm choosing to look at it is actually that you know what, because of all the healing that I've experienced already, because of all the intention I've put into my healing journey I'm managing this busy season heck of a lot better than I would have in the past. I'm more regulated. I'm enjoying my children. I'm not exhausted even when I'm tired. I'm overall taking care, much better care of myself and my body. And it's proving so in this very busy season.

So are there more layers of hearing healing to experience? Is there more intentional work I can do to take better care of myself? Yes, and I'm figuring that out. And I don't mind showing up in the middle of my process and saying I'm figuring it out because I think there's value in us learning together as we're on the journey. My goal is not to say here, look at me. I've got it all. It's not my goal. My goal is to say we're in it together, and because I've been on the healing journey now for almost two decades, yes, I have things that I'm going to be able to help you with. I have things that I'm going to, I've experienced a lot where I'm going to be able to say, oh, I empathize, I can understand.  I know what you're feeling. That's, that's valuable to know that somebody has been there before us, that somebody understands it, and that they have tools to help us, and that's what I've got for you. I've got tools I've got empathy. I do understand. I get it. I also am in the process. And I will always be in process. I will be becoming more and more the beautiful, authentic person that I am meant to be. And the best part of maybe where I'm at right now is that I've recognized over the last recently, I don't know, two years maybe, I can love myself in the process a lot more. I have a lot more compassion for myself instead of judging myself and looking back at my past self or looking at my present self and being -Ohh no. I'm able to embrace the fact that you know what? I'm in the process. Here's where I'm at. And I'm going to show up and be me in it.

That's basically what I wanted to take this time to talk about, just to tell you where I'm at and to relate it because it's relatable. I know it's relatable. I know we all have our condition patterns, the ways that our childhood affected us, and the things that became easy for us, that may be toxic, that may not be serving us and helping us in our present life, and as we recognize what those condition patterns are, the next step is saying what do we want to do about it. And then finding help to do something about it and getting the support you need.

What is it for you? What is a condition pattern that you recognize, I  fall back into this and it's really, it's borderline toxic and it's least not helping me out and I don't, I don't want to continue in it. And once you've determined that. Then find help, myself or someone else, and together let's get you where you want to go.

And now I wanted to share with you a little bit about what's coming ahead. So I cannot guarantee how often episodes are going to show up right now for you, but we're at the end of July here, beginning August, as soon as we're going to be into August, by September Season 6 is going to be up and I am bringing to you a lot in Season 6, because it's not going to be me speaking many times. I'm interviewing a lot of different guests and they're sharing their knowledge and their passions with you. So you're going to be able to hear a lot of different voices in season six.

I will pop in and you'll hear from me too, but it's going to have that sort of flair to it and I'm hoping that you're going to be able to pull a lot from it, enjoy it, and then in season seven, I'd love to be coming back to you with a lot of enthusiasm and content to just keep rolling your way. Because my goal is to be here, for you to continue to bring in power to thrive your way.

This coming September we are marking 3 years since I started the podcast and it started as weekly YouTube videos then within a few months I launched the official podcast.

And you know, I feel proud of that.  Have there been pockets of time where I've paused? You know that. If you've been listening all along, you know that when I was not feeling well, very sick because of my pregnancy last year, there that I paused. There have been other seasons, maybe when I experienced my miscarriage, I might have paused. There have been times when I said, hey, I got to take a short break, but I'm coming back and I have a high value for that.

I have a high value for showing up, even if you show up late somewhere. Because you said, you know what, this is the place I’m supposed to be or I want to be. And, I'm going to get there. I might be late, but I'm going to get there. I have always applauded the seasons of life, ebb, and flow. And I think I think I don't often think about it like this. But then some moments I witness myself and I reflect and I think that even the podcast is simply -Wow! Like this is, guys, this is such a different episode. It's just me sharing my heart with you as a friend. I feel like there's something special about it, but anyways.

The podcast is a reflection, another reflection of how you can do life and will I sit here and say every podcast? If every podcast did this, it would be successful, no, that's not what I'm sitting here trying to say. I'm not sitting here trying to say every podcast needs to take pauses and breaks. No, no, no. I'm just saying that this is yet another reflection of how life is because we can hold it all together. We can always show up. We can do the things that everyone's expecting of us on time, always. I just don't think that's realistic. To how it is in life, I don't think it's realistic. I'm just going to leave it there.

And so here I am showing you just something different and this is not me trying to show you something different, this is just me showing up. So, thank you for being here. Whether you've been here all along since I started or you're somebody new listening, I'm glad you're here.

I appreciate you taking the time to connect and I always love to hear from you, so please reach out and share whatever it is that you'd like to share with me. I'm all ears.

And I will talk with you again soon.
